Career Details

Work consisting of installations, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industry.

Responsabilities
  • Performs all electrical tasks under general supervision.
  • Reads and accurately interprets construction electrical drawings, terminate cables, install and trouble shoot control wiring from drawings.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
  • Accurately and timely trouble shoots control wiring.
  • Properly sizing and installing conduit in a timely manner.
  • Layout and install wire way, buss duct, cable tray, switches receptacles and other devices
  • Pulls wire and/or oversees and directs conduit installations and wire pulling.
  • Properly fulfills assigned tasks as directed.
  • Operates tools/equipment, normally requiring the use of two hands (examples: cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.)
  • Maintains and properly stores tools and equipment.
  • Clearly understands and complies with Company/job safety requirements (O.S.H.A., all fed, state, local and company regulations and policies)
  • Maintains current any required licensing. Licensing includes but is not limited to any and all applicable national, state, city, and drivers licensing.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • All qualifications for an Electrician:
  • For Journeymen Electricians: must meet applicable licensing requirements of the state where licensing is required.
  • Education: High school Graduate, Holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/ experience.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of electrician level experience.
  • Ability to perform all electrical tasks with general supervision.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret construction electrical drawings, terminate cables, install and trouble shoot control wiring from drawings.
  • Good general knowledge of electrical code.
  • Ability to anticipate jobsite needs.
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties which may be subject to change with little or no notice.
  • Ability to use reason and logic.
  • Ability to perform arithmetical operations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to meet the attendance and schedule requirements of the project, including working overtime when required
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
  • Other:  May be required to operate straight or automatic transmission style vehicles.

Working Conditions:

  • Job is subject to all types of environmental and construction conditions depending on location, time of year, and type of installation (example: heat, cold, rain, snow, etc).
  • Job requires willingness and ability to work in confined spaces, tight /restrictive areas (i.e. switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, attics, etc.), uneven terrain, hazardous classification areas, at heights. This position may require work from higher level aerial platform.
  • Job requires ability to work from all type of ladders. (Step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders and must be able to carry and relocate 12' stepladder by one's self). Note: Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limits of the ladder. (class 1- 250lbs., class 1A - 300lbs.).
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, safety toed work boots, respirators, monogoggles, safety harnesses as required) when required.
  • Job requires repetitive body motions, including repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers as well as back, legs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs, and working at odd angles or overhead.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, stoop, squat, craw, climb, kneel, balance, and work in small places and/or overhead or at heights.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.
  • Ability to read labels, job site maps / directions, instruction manuals and written instructions.
  • Ability to bend the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extend arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to accomplish electrician and construction duties and tasks, usually performed two-handed.
  • Ability to use upper extremities to apply or exert a force up to 20 lbs.
  • See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors. Ability to accurately identify colors of wires and conductors.
  • Ability and willingness to perform duties outside in varying temperatures and working environments.
  • Ability to maneuver to, from, into and around all types of construction areas; must be able to gain access to all levels of the building or structure, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
  • Travel may be required, sometimes out of town, occasionally even out of state.
